Servers and plans

How soon is my server ready?

A VPS is ready a few minutes after you deploy it from the dashboard, the API or cubecli. A dedicated server is a physical installation, so it is not instant: servers in stock are delivered faster than custom configurations, which take longer. If your order is delayed, open a ticket and we will tell you where it stands.

Should I choose shared or dedicated CPU?

Cloud VPS comes in four families:

FamilyvCPUGood for
General Purpose (gp.*)SharedWebsites, APIs, small databases, bots, staging
High Frequency (rz.*)Shared, AMD RyzenShared plans that need faster single-thread performance
Dedicated CPU (dc.*)DedicatedWorkloads that keep the CPU busy: builds, CI runners, video encoding, batch jobs
High Frequency Dedicated CPU (hd.*)Dedicated, AMD RyzenBusy, single-thread heavy work such as game servers

On a shared plan the vCPUs share physical cores with other customers' servers, and the plan is sized for normal usage with bursts. On a Dedicated CPU plan the vCPUs are reserved for your server. If your workload keeps the CPU close to full for long periods, choose a Dedicated CPU plan. Cryptocurrency mining is not allowed on any CubePath service.

Stock varies by location and family: the deploy page shows what you can order right now. In the dashboard a VPS can only be resized to an upgrade within its own family. To move a server from a shared to a dedicated family, take a snapshot and deploy it on a Dedicated CPU plan. See Choosing the right product.

What is the difference between a snapshot and a backup?

A backup is an automatic daily copy that protects a server against mistakes: it expires with its retention (7 days at most) and is deleted when you destroy the server. A snapshot is a permanent copy you take on demand: it never expires, survives the server, and can be deployed as new servers in any location.

BackupSnapshot
TakenDaily at the hour you choose, or by handBy hand, whenever you want
Kept1 to 7 days, at most 10 copiesUntil you delete it
If you destroy the serverDeleted with itKept
RestoreOver the same server onlyAs new servers, in any location, on a plan with at least the same disk
Price+20% on the server's monthly price$0.03 per GB stored per month

Use backups for day-to-day protection and snapshots for anything you want to keep: a golden image, a copy before a migration, or a server you are about to destroy. See Backups and Snapshots.

How much do additional IP addresses cost?

On a VPS, the primary IPv4 costs $1.50 per month and each additional IPv4 costs $3.00 per month. Additional addresses are floating IPs: you acquire them in a location and can move them between your servers in that location. For dedicated servers, additional IPs are quoted when you order; open a ticket.

Billing and payments

What payment methods do you accept?

CubePath is prepaid: you add funds to your balance and VPS and most other services are charged by the hour against it. You can pay by card, PayPal or cryptocurrency (the available methods depend on your account), and accounts are billed in USD, EUR or GBP. Dedicated servers are paid in advance for the billing term you choose. See Balance.

Can I pay with cryptocurrency?

Yes, for accounts billed in USD. Crypto payments are processed by Stripe and use stablecoins, mainly USDC; the payment page shows the coins and networks available to you. We don't accept Bitcoin, USDT or other cryptocurrencies. Top-ups start at $10, and Stripe accepts up to $10,000 per crypto payment.

You can use crypto to add funds or to pay an invoice. Automatic top-ups need a saved card or PayPal account, because a crypto payment is made by hand each time on Stripe's payment page. If a crypto payment is refunded, it is returned as stablecoins to the wallet it came from.

Network and security

How does DDoS protection work?

Traffic to CubePath IP addresses is filtered at the edge of our network, so attacks are dropped before they reach your server. IPs with Premium protection also appear on the DDoS Mitigation page of the dashboard, where you can tune the protection profile and add edge firewall rules (the number of rules depends on your organization's plan). To add Premium protection, contact sales. See DDoS Mitigation.

What does the SLA cover?

We guarantee 99.99% uptime each month for our services. If we fall short, affected customers are entitled to a service credit. The credit terms, the exclusions (such as downtime caused by a DDoS attack against your own service, or planned maintenance announced in advance) and the rest of the conditions are in section 4 of the Terms of Service.

Support

What support do you offer?

Our team answers tickets 24/7. We support the platform: hardware, network, dashboard, API and billing, plus the tools in the panel such as the console, rescue mode, reinstall, backups and snapshots. CubePath is an unmanaged cloud, so we don't manage the software that runs inside your server. See section 3 of the Terms of Service.

What happens if you receive an abuse report about my service?

We open a ticket in your account with the details of the report and ask you to investigate, stop the activity and reply within 24 hours. If the activity continues or we don't hear from you, we may suspend the affected service until you reply with the measures you took. In serious cases, such as an attack in progress, we can suspend it at once. See Abuse reports.
